Riverside, Tranquillity and Cream Tea

Occasionally a project comes along which is just a sheer delight in every way.

Cue Whittington’s Tea Barge and step aboard…

“Contemporary surroundings combined with traditional breakfasts, lunches and afternoon tea” – immediately I feel a sense of calm!

The venture is the brainchild of Andy Craig, former consultant and sales exec.  Andy is a descendent of the original Dick Whittington, hence the name, and he approached us in February 2012 with a view to producing his branding and website in time for the launch of the tea barge late summer/early Autumn.

Whittingtons PositioningFirst, we looked at the positioning, comparing Andy’s ideas and objectives, including his heritage, against his competitors.

Whittingtons ConceptsWe then produced various sketches for Andy’s review and applied these ideas to photographs of the barge for him to see how they might work in practice.  This image is just a small sample…

Whittingtons Final Approved Design

And from this, the design concept was born, with Andy favouring the association with Dick Whittington’s cat.

We are now in the final stages of the website design, which should go live October 2012.  In the meantime, Whittington’s Tea Barge can be found alongside Christchurch Meadows in Reading and is open Tuesday to Sunday from 7.30am until 4pm.  Contact tel: 07986 733638 for more information.  It’s worth mentioning that Whittington’s can also cater for breakfast meetings and business lunches – far nicer than a stuffy hotel lobby!

“I approached Bryan & Amanda at Yellow Yoyo with my idea to start a tea room on a barge called Whittington’s as I wanted their advice on designing a logo and building a brand.  I was blown away with their enthusiasm and energy, as well as the variety and range of designs and ideas.  Needless to say, I now have a great logo and brand image that has received many wonderful comments and even an opportunity to expand my business in a new direction that could see the brand in supermarkets across the country.

Bryan & Amanda’s energy is infectious and it has been a pleasure to start my journey with 2 wonderful people.”
